LUNAR PHASE:
L u n a c y - def: "Intermittent mental derangement associated with the changing phases of the moon." We've all heard stories of how the full moon can affect both people and animals. Hospital emergency rooms are said to be a lot busier during full moons. Many paranormal investigators have documented heightened activity during both full and new moons.
EARTH WEATHER:
"Thunder is impressive; but it is lightning that does the work." -- Mark Twain
Our bodies are electric. Each living cell generates a charge of about 1.17 volts. There is a magnetic field that surrounds each cell. It is thought that this electromagnetic portion of us is what makes up our soul. Many believe that ghosts are comprised of electromagnetic energy and that they use available sources of energy in the environment to manifest themselves. If there's more of that energy around at any given time (in a storm for example) we may be more likely to see an increase in paranormal activity. If you harnessed the energy in one lightening strike, you could launch a 2000 lb. car 62 miles in the air! 'Nuff said.
There is also a theory relating to humidity. Paranormal activity is thought to increase during the drier, winter months when humidity is lowest and static electricity is high.
FALSE POSITIVE POTENTIAL: Weather condition information can also be used by the paranormal investigator to determine the potential for false positives when using photography in investigations. Conditions of high humidity and/or high pollen count can lead to false positives, especially when using digital cameras. Any "orb" anomalies captured under such conditions should be considered suspect.
SPACE WEATHER:
The Earth gets bombarded by the solar wind. It carries gases, radio waves and radiation. Thankfully, the Earth's radiation belts protect us from the brunt of it. Occasionally, stronger bursts of energy from the sun can warp the belts and cause the particles within them to react, which results in a number of effects, one being the creation of the colorful aurora displays in the atmosphere. These stronger "storms" can also disrupt satellites, communication and create more available ambient energy that may allow ghosts to communicate and materialize more effectively.

About the Solar X-ray status monitor
The X-ray Solar status monitor downloads data periodically from the NOAA Space Environment Center FTP server. The previous 24 hours of 5 minute Long-wavelength X-ray data from each satellite (GOES 8 and GOES 10) is analyzed, and an appropriate level of activity for the past 24 hours is assigned as follows:
Normal: Solar X-ray flux is quiet (< 1.00e-6 W/m^2)
Active: Solar X-ray flux is active (>= 1.00e-6 W/m^2)
M Class Flare: An M Class flare has occurred (X-ray flux >= 1.00e-5 W/m^2)
X Class Flare: An X Class flare has occurred (X-ray flux >= 1.00e-4 W/m^2)
Mega Flare: An unprecedented X-ray event has occurred (X-ray flux >= 1.00e-3 W/m^2)
The designation "Mega Flare" was chosen by Kevin Loch when the status monitor was created on March 4, 1999.
There is no "official" designation for flares in this range.

About the Geomagnetic Field status monitor
The Geomagnetic Field status monitor downloads data periodically from the NOAA Space Environment Center FTP server. The previous 24 hours of 3 hour Planetary Kp Index data is analyzed and an appropriate level of activity for the past 24 hours is assigned as follows:
Quiet: the Geomagnetic Field is quiet (Kp < 4)
Active: the Geomagnetic Field has been unsettled (Kp=4)
Storm: A Geomagnetic Storm has occurred (Kp>4)
